It is almost the end of the school year in Tasmania, and in about 4 weeks we will have finished school for the year. We have a 6-7 week holiday during January and then it’s back to school in February. I can’t wait until the holidays and Christmas. Do you have any plans for Christmas?
Miss W has said we can keep our blogs, so I will try to keep up the posts and commenting. Hopefully I will be able to keep talking to everyone, because I have made heaps of friends from all over the world!!

Hello everyone,
Today is Remembrance Day, which is where on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, all Australians, and all round the world, people have a minutes silence to remember those who fought it war.
It used to be called Armistice Day, because Germany had asked for and armistice so its country could have peace. The fighting never resumed. On the first anniversary of Armistice Day, a South African man asked King George for 2 minutes silence to remember and honour the 70 million soldiers who fought and the 9-13 million who died. It’s not known where a third of these soldiers are buried.
The name was changed from Armistice Day to Remembrance Day when people decided it was important to remember every soldier who had fought in all wars. The poppy is a flower, which has been accepted throughout nations as the flower of Remembrance Day. Every year the RSL sells small poppies to raise money.
Australians have one minutes silence on the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Hi everyone,
A couple of weeks ago, my family got a dog called Sophie. Sophie used to belong to my mum’s friend, but she had to give Sophie away, so we got her! She is black and white, and is a jack-Russel cross smith field.
She is very affectionate and loves to be pet and fed
. She gets along with one of our cats, Rosie, but not the other, Bonnie. Bonnie spends most of her time avoiding Sophie outside. When they are together, they hiss and bark at each other.
She loves to go for walks and is really good at fetching sticks, balls and Frisbees. She doesn’t bite and only barks when she feels threatened. She is a great pet. Do you have a a pet?

Hi everyone,
Recently, I told you about my school’s swimming carnival, in which I mentioned the school swimming carnival was also a selection for the inter-school swimming carnival, where other schools compete against each other.
I got selected for this team, and I went in the 25m freesyle and backstroke, a freesyle relay and 50m freestyle. I got 5th in the 25 freestyle, 4th in the 25 backstroke, my relay team got 5th and I came 4th in the 50m. I fairly pleased with myself, but unfortunately our school came last out of the 8 schools.
We all tried our best, and we all had some fun!

Hi guys,
Earlyer this week, it was the swimming carnival at my school, which is also the selction for the inter-school swimming carnival team, where other schools compete against each other.
The strokes I went in were: 25m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and aquatic underarm (or doggy paddle). I came 1st in all these races, but in the 50m freestyle I came second.
I think I did pretty well.

Hi everyone,
Last week, all the grade 6/7’s went on a excursion up to Mt.Wellington. It was a ‘reward’ excursion, for those who had done the right thing during the year and term 3. Some people didn’t get to go. We didn’t go the top of the mountain thought, just to about half way, and then we walked down and had a BBQ.
When we got there, we started walking across the track, which was really bumpy. Some people slipped over, but they got back up and continued walking. The walk down took nearly ab hour and a half, and was very tiring. When we finally got down to where the BBQ was, everyone was exhausted.
Overall, the excursion was good!

Hi everyone,
In about two weeks, my school is having its athletics carnival. It lasts for two days. We have three houses, Bridges (blue) Heart (red) and Davis (yellow, my house!!). It is very competitive, and the house with the most points and at the end of the two days wins.
There is sprinting races, long distance, feild events and even all the teachers get invloved. In PE, we have been doing high jump, long and triple jump, javlin, discus and shotput. We have also been practising our sprint starts.
I can’t wait!

Hi everyone,
On Thursday last week, the 6/7’s went and saw a presentation called Motivational Media. It was set up with 3 large projector screen type boards, and lots of equipment to play the presentation.
The show started with a man who had made a motor bike for a person with a disability. He explained how it started as a uni project, which was only meant to go for 3 months, but it turned into a three year job. He has now made lots of different machines for a variety of people with a disability.
Next there was a lady who was surfing one day, and got her arm bitten off by a shark. It showed how brave and courageous she had been, because three weeks after the attack, she was back on her surfboard. She is really someone to look up to.
And there was a lady who had had a night out, and had taken drugs. She then got behind the wheel of her car and hit a group of cyclists. One died.
It shows that a simple night out can wreak yuor life, and another persons and their family’s.
This presentation was really inspiring and definatley motivational. I really enjoyed it!

Hey guys,
A couple of weeks ago, I competed in my first swimming meet, or competition. My coach had been asking me for awhile to give it a go, so I finally decided to. This meet wasn’t too serious, mainly just a ‘go and try’, to get a feel for what it was like.
I was competing with my club, the Sharks, but I also was competing to get times for myself, so the next time I went in a meet, I could aim to beat that time. They recorded my times, and then when I go again, I am put into a race with people who are around the same speed as me, so I have more competition.
I was really nerveous! I was only in two races, and they were both almost last, so I had to wait for ages, but it had a good side to it too, as I could watch the more experienced race. I was racing in the 50m backsroke and freestyle.
I ended up coming 1st in the backstroke and 2nd in the freestyle. I was really pleased with myself, and realised there wasn’t any reason to be nerveous. I now have something to work towards in my training, which I do twice a week.

Hey everyone,
Just a quick post to keep in touch with you all! We are now on holidays, and it’s really good to have break. Some of my plans for the next two weeks are to go to the movies with my friends, go to a birthday party and to go camping!! It all should be a lot of fun, and I will come back to school re-freshed and ready for work!!
